Salvage Surgical Procedures
Salvage surgical procedures refer to surgical interventions that are performed after a previous surgery or treatment has failed. These procedures are typically used in the management of recurrent or persistent diseases, such as cancer, where the original treatment was unsuccessful in removing all of the diseased tissue.
Targeted therapy
Targeted therapy is a type of cancer treatment that uses drugs or other substances to target specific molecules or pathways that are involved in the growth and spread of cancer cells. In the case of metastatic urological cancers, targeted therapy can be used to target specific mutations or genetic alterations.
Immunotherapy
Immunotherapy is a type of cancer treatment that uses the body’s own immune system to fight cancer cells. It works by stimulating the immune system to recognize and attack cancer cells, which can be difficult for the immune system to do on its own. There are different types of immunotherapy, including checkpoint inhibitors.
Hormone therapy
Hormone therapy for prostate cancer is a medical treatment that aims to reduce levels of testosterone or block its effects, as prostate cancer cells are typically stimulated to grow by this hormone. Hormone therapy may be used in various stages of prostate cancer, including in combination with other treatments, to shrink the tumor or slow its growth, and to relieve symptoms.
Chemotherapy
High-dose and low-dose chemotherapy are two different approaches to cancer treatment that involve the use of chemotherapy drugs at different levels of intensity. High-dose chemotherapy is a more aggressive treatment that involves the use of higher doses of chemotherapy drugs, often in combination with stem cell transplantation.
Orchiectomy
Orchiectomy is a surgical procedure that involves the removal of one or both testicles. This procedure is commonly used as a treatment option for testicular cancer, prostate cancer, and other conditions that require a reduction in testosterone levels. Depending on the specific case, either a unilateral or bilateral orchiectomy may be performed.
